General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Linux Software Integrator to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to deliver end-to-end solutions in mission systems integration, development, and operations support to fleets and the organization. Key Responsibilities

Linux Software Integrator will analyze, design, develop and test General Dynamics Mission Systems systems to ensure the integration of software, hardware, reliability, maintainability, safety and other requirements in the total engineering effort. Additional responsibilities include integration of Sonar, Fire Control and Imaging software onto COTS equipment; reading and debugging software; writing system scripts; troubleshooting hardware; and maintaining Linux operating systems. These individuals may also be asked to document security on both new and fielded information systems or provide accreditation/certification evaluation and test support to ensure all technical security features are considered and functioning properly.

  • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure General Dynamics Mission Systems services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices

  • Great opportunity to travel to many US and Australian Naval bases. Travel locations include, Honolulu, HI; Perth, Australia; San Diego, CA; Bremerton, WA; Norfolk, VA; Groton, CT and St. Mary's, GA

Candidates must demonstrate passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of various engineering systems and the ability to further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems technology.

The Linux Software Integrator position requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering and zero years of related work experience. Applicants with a masters degree are also eligible.

Department of Defense SECRET clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. The position requires applicant to successfully obtain or transfer a SECRET clearance in a specified timeframe. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Minimum qualifications to be considered for this position include:

  • Strong knowledge of a Linux operating system; CentOS or RedHat Linux is preferred.

  • Understanding of various Linux topics such as:

  • CLI, kickstart, kernel, iptables, shells and shell scripting, sysadmin skillset, X, SSH suite, auditd, NFS, networking tools

  • Ability to debug HW/SW issues, work through troubleshooting to closure, and document process.

  • Experience troubleshooting hardware

  • Understanding of virtualization concepts

  • Active DoD SECRET clearance, or ability to obtain Interim SECRET clearance prior to start date.
