General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for an Undersea Equipment Design Engineer to join our Operations team. The position provides an opportunity to develop and advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to design and development the systems, processes and tools that support internal and client operations. Key Responsibilities
The Undersea Equipment Design Engineer will work with the local manufacturing team to perform detail design and development of undersea equipment consisting of packaged electronics and cabled sensors. Their work assists with General Dynamics Mission Systems production, as well as the use of mechanical and electromechanical systems, and manufacturing instruments.

This position involves basic and applied research, design, development, design evaluation and calculations during all stages of the life cycle for undersea sensor and undersea network hardware. Detail design and manufacture of subsea equipment and structures, operation and maintenance of subsea sensor packages and networks are the main activities involved. The task requires knowledge of marine subsea electronics packaging for full ocean depth applications. Proficiency in the use of computer aided engineering simulation software is desirable. The candidate will be a member of the Mechanical Design Department in the Integrated Seaborne Systems organization located in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Candidates must demonstrate a passion for innovation, an understanding of systems engineering and analysis, and the ability to effectively develop and evolve General Dynamics Mission Systems technology.

The Undersea Equipment Design Engineer position requires either a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with zero to two years of related experience, or a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with the equivalent and two to five years of related experience or related engineering degrees with applicable and greater than five years experience.

Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
