General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Systems Research & Development (R&D) Engineer to join our systems engineering team supporting Research and Development. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to create and manage various General Dynamics Mission Systems and client technologies. The R&D Systems Engineer will be responsible for researching, analyzing, and documenting various technology related to both physical security and cybersecurity solutions. He or she may also need to integrate solutions into a larger architecture and perform evaluations. Additional Responsibilities may include formulating operational concepts; performing mission, functional, cost-benefit and risk analysis; selecting systems architecture; and preparing specifications.
Candidates must demonstrate passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of various engineering systems and the ability to further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems technology.
The Systems Engineer position requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering or the equivalent and at least zero to two years of related work experience. Applicants with a master's degree are also eligible.
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within 24 months of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Due to the recent surge in our staffing needs, this position can also be performed out of Dedham, MA.
