Our client are a large Highways Consultancy based in Hertfordshire with a great opportunity for a Principal Quantity Surveyor. |
Key Responsibility - Delivery
The Principal Quantity Surveyor (PQS) role will primarily be to offer contractual and commercial support to the Community in the lead up to, and onsite aspects of, scheme delivery for the WCS and consideration for the Professional Services Contract.
Representation of the Employers for contractual/commercial requirements.
Ownership for the delivery of commercial/contractual process/outputs to the Head of Profession and Group Manager.
Developing and promoting innovation with the service.
Ensuring clear guidance on delivery goals and process to the wider group.
Liaison with the Contractor/Supplier to ensure all contractual matters are understood and correct processes followed.
Technical guidance with all aspects of the NEC3 suite of documents.
Site based presence as required within Hertfordshire.
Attendance of contractual meetings with Suppliers where required.
Management of EWNs and CEs as required.
Managing payment processes.
Assist with the production of contract documentation as required.
Key Responsibility – Team Management
As PQS you will be required to build/promote effective communication at all levels within the Whole Client Service (WCS; which is the organisation and provide contractual guidance where required. You will lead a small team of Quantity Surveyors to achieve this.
Teams are well led and multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders managed effectively
Talent within the team is supported and developed
Staff are treated fairly and motivated
Support to the Team Leader regarding Human and financial resources
Key Responsibility – Health & Safety
Understanding of Health & Safety responsibilities within the office environment and on-site.
Ensuring company policies are complied with
Working knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations and other H&S legislation.
Contractual commercial needs and service needs are aligned.
Relationship with Members, Councillors, Stakeholder and the public where required.
Qualifications & Experience
Degree qualified with either Chartered Membership in a relevant discipline or suitable experience
Previous professional experience in highway engineering
Experience leading small discipline based teams, mentoring, coaching and personal development of self and others
Ability to apply Engineering Principles and procedures
Proven experience building and managing stakeholder relationships
Experience of Financial and Project Management
Confident interpersonal and communication skills
Flexibility and adaptability
Ability to manage a challenging and varying workload
Excellent NEC3 knowledge
Ability to build relationships
Adaptable and able to think outside the square
Ability to work autonomously
Ability to work to deadlines and see tasks through to completion
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Good analytical skills and attention to detail
