About the Business Line
AECOM's Global Support Services (GSS) organization resides within AECOM's Government business line and is comprised of three divisions - International Development, Operations and Mission Support, and Global Programs. GSS has the international presence, personnel networks and procurement infrastructure to deliver support for any mission, anywhere. We optimize the reliability, availability and sustainability of equipment, logistics systems and facilities for clients around the world. AECOM is seeking an Engineer to apply knowledge of applicable principles for the integration of new/upgraded C4I or warfare systems on new construction and in-service navy ships to meet an Integrated Topside Design environment.
Knowledge and experience in the functional disciplines for the placement/application of primary communication or warfare system are required for this position, This includes examples such as Command and Control, Communications, Radar, EW Sensors, Missile and Gun Weapon Systems, and Air Traffic Control.
Requirements of the position are to analyze options to optimize the topside design and ensure electromagnetic and warfighting compatibility is maintained with the addition of new or upgraded systems by applying appropriate commercial/ military specifications, standards, and instructions;. The candidate need to be knowledgable of ship missions, sensor and weapon system performance specifications and requirements; provide guidance to installation activities for successful ship installation/integration; develop solutions to technical issues, review change proposals and waiver requests.
This position require the candidate to anticipate future fleet needs and investigate the application of new technologies/approaches to overcome current limitations; work closely with Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and other DOD program offices, sponsors, the fleet, laboratories, port engineers, contractors, and ship builders; and develop task schedules/plans and manage those tasks/plans within time and budget constraints and provide recommendations for managing and allocating appropriate technical/personnel assets. Candidate will have direct customer daily interface and communication while working on site.
• BS degree in Engineering or related technical field with 7 years work experience
• Technical program support experience.
• Strong communication and analytical skills required.
• Must hold an Active Secret clearance.
• Occasional travel is required, within the Washington, DC metropolitan area for meetings. There is also the potential for travel to naval and private shipyards and as well as other Naval Facilities.
• Shipboard experience mandatory: U.S. Navy experience and/or Civilian experience for acquiring, installing, repairing, maintaining, and testing combat system and/or C4I equipment on Navy surface combatants. Integrated design of Navy systems to include topside equipment such as Radars, Satellite Communications, Weapon Systems, Mission Systems and interface with other topside aspects such as aircraft operations, firefighting, life rafts and other topside safety devices
Work experience may include: Integrated Topside Design, Weapon Effects, Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) and the associated military specifications/standards, antenna design/installation, Hazard of Electromagnetic Radiation to Fuel, Ordnance, or Personnel (HERF/O/P), naval radar systems, communication systems, EW systems, EM field measurements. Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), Systems engineering academic course work preferred.
