The Program
Here is your opportunity to work on the first ever high-speed rail program in the U.S. while growing your career on a groundbreaking project. The California High-Speed Rail program will connect the mega-regions of the state, contribute to economic development and a cleaner environment, create jobs and preserve agricultural and protected lands. By 2029, the system will run from San Francisco to the Los Angeles basin in under three hours at speeds of more than 200 miles per hour. The system will also extend to Sacramento and San Diego, totaling 800 miles with up to 24 stations.

The Role
The California High Speed Rail Authority has awarded WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff the Program Management role within the Rail Delivery Partners (RDP) program delivery team. As a result we have an immediate opportunity for a Senior Structural Estimator to join our Project Controls Group, working from our Sacramento, CA office. The Senior Structural Estimator will:

      • Prepare basis of estimate as required by the Estimating Manager in accordance with the program requirements
      • Seek additional useful data from various sources
      • Review designs and specifications for cost-effectiveness and suggest appropriate alternatives
      • Perform other duties and projects as needed

Job Requirements
The Requirements

      • A Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (e.g. Civil Engineering), Construction Management, or related
      • A minimum of 17 years of progressively-increasing responsibility in estimating within Heavy Civil/Transit projects with primary emphasis on structural estimating.
      • Experience with Railroad/Transit Project Estimating, including:
*Quantity take-off preparation, including setting format for others to take-off
*Labor Pricing using crew base and man-hours estimating methodology
*Estimates - from conceptual to detailed
*Material Pricing - secure quotes
*Strong MS Excel skills
*Risk Management
      • Excellent communication and team-building skills
      • The ability to work well with others within a team-based matrix project/company environment
      • The ability to work well with client personnel
      • The ability to gain the acceptance and understanding of specialized aspects of estimating procedures
      • The ability to work in the United States immediately is required.
