About the Business Line
AECOM's Global Support Services (GSS) organization resides within AECOM's Government business line and is comprised of three divisions - International Development, Operations and Mission Support, and Global Programs. GSS has the international presence, personnel networks and procurement infrastructure to deliver support for any mission, anywhere. Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a Construction Engineer 2 to be based in our Oak Ridge, TN office.

This individual will be responsible for managing the construction engineering functions on a project to ensure adherence to engineering plans, specifications and procedures. This individual will assist the construction project team to develop of the scope of work, perform constructability reviews, review and approve contractor submittals, support schedule development and reporting. This individual will be assigned to a Project Manager/Construction Manager to support various construction projects throughout the Oak Ridge facilities.
In some cases, this individual may perform the role of Buyers Technical Representative (BTR) and be directly involved in all aspects of construction contract management.
This person will support construction projects with a focus on ensuring contractors adherence to design media, requirements for quality, schedule and performance. Additionally, this individual will interpret designs and support development of documentation for design changes or modifications. The construction engineer will prepare reports for job site inspections and report progress and quantities for the project controls organization.

Minimum Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or demonstrated combination of education/training and experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of construction engineering experience on construction management projects.
  • Experienced in working under limited direction with responsibility for construction engineering on a project.
  • Responsible for interpreting and understanding design media, project specifications, work procedures, project scheduling, cost control and assuring compliance with all state and national building codes.
  • Review plans, specifications, drawings and schedules to determine proper construction sequence and priorities.
  • Review subcontracts, change orders and verify requests for payment by subcontractors.
  • Experience with handling work package development and implementation.
  • Knowledge of construction technologies.
  • Prior DOE /Government site related experience
  • Familiarity with DOE related health and safety programs such as ISMS and EMS.
  • Capable of and willing to work in radiation zones and other high hazard environments including the possibility of wearing various types of respiratory protection.
