AECOM is currently hiring an Illustrator to join our team!
Perform a variety of specific technical/engineering assignments as a member of an Engineering support team. Generally functions in one or more of the following activities: manufacture, research design, test, development, modification and operation of diverse electronic mechanical/equipment.
1) Prepares illustrations for manuals on communications/electronics equipment to be used in
conjunction with operation, maintenance, repair, parts, identification, and training.
2) Develops line reproducible illustrations for manuals requiring individual page layout,
sizing, and placement of illustrations to fit text and page design.
3) Lays out and completes illustrations of complex schematic and related wiring diagrams and
exploded views of scaled perspective.
4) Collaborates with technical writers in fitting a series of illustrations to text to ensure greater
clarity and most immediate communication of complex technological ideas and principles to
5) Travels with equipment specialists, engineers, and other subject matter experts to depots,
unit installations, or contractor facilities to make on the spot sketches and graphic notes of
configuration, locations, and dimensions.
6) Attends project In-Process Reviews (IPR) with technical writers, engineers, technicians,
and customers to ensure continuity in the development of the final product.
7) Possesses a working knowledge of and experience with standard drawings practices, basic
drafting principles, and preparation of drawings, sketches, and artwork using CAE/CADD.
8) Develops detailed models and drawings from 2-dimensional drawings and sketches,
assemblies, and verbal instructions.
9) Reviews all drawings to ensure conformance to all required specifications, revision levels,
internal standards, formats, grammar, spelling, etc.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Education: Two-year Associate's degree in CAE/CADD, or similar field.
Experience: Four years' experience developing, analyzing and coordinating logistical
functions and a 2-year Associate's degree can be substituted for 4-year Bachelor's degree.
Good communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required. Position may require travel. Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
Must be U.S. Citizen and able to pass / maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
Active clearance is strongly preferred.
