About the Business Line
We provide services with a concentration in economic analysis. Our economic services encompass planning and programming, measuring and testing, and strategy and implementation for a broad range of clients.

Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Economist for immediate employment for the San Francisco, CA office. The selected candidate will join the Sustainable Development and Economics Group. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.

With a range of expertise from strategy through project realization, the connections we make among people and places provide new insight to better outcomes for clients and communities. Our expertise includes workplace strategy, economic and development planning, master planning, urban planning, architecture, interiors, building engineering, and landscape architecture. Our B P team is leading the industry with visionary and forward-thinking projects such as the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, CA; Liberty Park at the World Trade Center, New York, NY; the Lower Manhattan Coastal Resilience (Big U), NY; and the LA 2024 Olympic bid.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:
  • Market analysis for strategic and master planning projects, focusing on infill development and transit oriented development (TOD)
  • Cost-benefit analysis for climate action plan
  • Triple bottom line/sustainable return on investment analysis
  • Energy efficiency / green building policy modeling
  • Development projections and carbon emissions modeling
  • Financial feasibility/Pro forma analysis for real estate development projects
  • Socioeconomic analysis for environmental impact report
  • Fiscal impact analysis
  • Affordable housing policy analysis
Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree with focus in urban planning, public policy, business, environmental studies or a related field
  • 2 years' experience
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
  • Detail-oriented: Strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn more and a desire to work in a dynamic, deadline driven team environment
  • Excellent communication and writing skills are critical
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office Suite imperative
  • Education and/or professional background in urban and real estate economics, urban planning, public policy, business administration or policy modeling/design
  • Demonstrated interest in sustainability, with a particular emphasis on quantitative analytical approaches to developing innovative solutions to complex challenges facing cities

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with other quantitative/statistical programs such as SAS, SPSS, IMPLAN desirable
  • Demonstrated interest and knowledge of the principles and practices of sustainability planning with an emphasis on urban regeneration, green development economics, and land-use/environmental policy design
  • Master's degree in a related field highly desirable
  • Experience with financial and economic modeling desirable
  • Experience with ArcGis highly desirable
  • US Citizenship preferred
