Job Summary
The AECOM Morrisville Geotech/Solid Waste Group is seeking an experienced civil engineer to support design of various disposal facilities, earthen dams, and other geotechnical and solid waste related projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and preparing stormwater and grading plans for pond closure, solid waste disposal facility design; construction quantity takeoffs for cost estimating; performing civil engineering design calculations for earthwork, stormwater management design, and solid waste design. Additional responsibilities include: report preparation, construction oversight/management activities, and routine client communications.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Reviews regulations and standards necessary to carry out project design and permitting work
  • Prepares designs, specifications and construction documents
  • Applies engineering principles to develop effective solutions
  • Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, tests, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design projects
  • Prepares or directs preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, and construction schedules for projects
  • Conducts site reconnaissance to examine field conditions, drainage and erosion control needs, as built conditions, etc.
  • Addresses Request for Information (RFI) from contractors related to design issues
  • Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, tests, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design projects
  • Works closely with the project team, including civil, geotechnical, mechanical engineers, surveyors to provide value to each project

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related engineering field
  • 2 years of experience in civil engineering or site development, including stormwater and sedimentation control analyses, development of grading plans and report preparation for projects including dams, surface impoundments, landfills, final covers, roadways, and other industrial and commercial development
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Civil3D designs for civil engineering related projects including grading and stormwater
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety requirements and environmental concerns
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

Preferred Qualifications
  • Landfill design and stormwater, erosion and sediment control design experience
  • Microstation
  • Engineering Intern
