About the Business Line
AECOM's Global Support Services (GSS) organization resides within AECOM's Government business line and is comprised of three divisions - International Development, Operations and Mission Support, and Global Programs. GSS has the international presence, personnel networks and procurement infrastructure to deliver support for any mission, anywhere. We optimize the reliability, availability and sustainability of equipment, logistics systems and facilities for clients around the world. GSS supports the U.S. Government, non-U.S. Governments and industry clients with worldwide program management, planning, design, operations and maintenance, logistics, aviation services, security, international development, environmental and civil engineering and mission and intelligence support.

Job Summary

AECOM has an exciting opportunity for a Humanitarian Advisor - Protection to join our international development team in central London.
We are motivated by making the world a better place. Becoming part of our truly global team, you will be part of growing our business with a new set of clients. You will support the development of a pipeline of new business opportunities and the preparation of winning proposals. You will contribute to the development of innovative solutions to development problems and provide oversight and support to the implementation of projects. A key part of the role will be to develop and maintain relationships with clients, partners, and in-house and external consultants. The successful candidate will be customer oriented with strong written and oral communications skills and must be able to travel internationally on a regular basis. The role would suit someone with a strong background in trade and regional integration and who is willing to develop and taking on more responsibility as the team matures.

We are looking for somebody to effectively lead the strategy and planning and provide advisory services for major humanitarian project activities whilst keeping abreast of the latest developments in humanitarian protection.

Minimum Requirements
  • Extensive experience advising on protection issues in a humanitarian context
  • Deep understanding of current debates in this field
  • Strong research and writing abilities
  • Ability to perform and meet deadlines in a high-paced environment, often working to tight deadlines
  • Willingness to take on ad-hoc responsibilities when responding to disasters
  • Significant experience of leading a response to a rapid onset disaster/complex emergency
  • Extensive experience of working in developing countries
  • Strong programme management skills
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels including public speaking
  • Exceptional organisational skills along with the ability to prioritise when faced with a demanding workload that is constantly subject to change
The ability and willingness to travel (self-contained) at short notice if required is essential

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ideally, a Master's level qualification or equivalent in a subject relating to the humanitarian field
