The Job
To be considered for this role the ideal candidate will need
To be a member of a team providing a range of professional and technical skills to discharge the Council’s delegated powers and duties as required under the Building Regulations, Building Act and associated legislation.
Assist in the provision of service for the diverse range of activities outlined below:
1. Ensure that all works controlled under the Building Regulations and associated legislation are undertaken in such a manner as to comply with substantive provisions
2. Provide professional advice and guidance to all users of the service and recommend innovative and practical options to complex Building Regulation queries.
3. Prime responsibility to ensure unauthorised work is brought into compliance and lead on any necessary enforcement action under the Building Regulations and Building Act.
4. Prime responsibility for taking decisions on all aspects of Dangerous Structures and responding within 2-hour target time.
The post requires a full membership of RICS/ CABE as a Building Control surveyor with extensive experience of inspecting domestic and commercial buildings for compliance with the Building Regulations and allied legislation. Knowledge and experience of inspecting dangerous structures, demolition and contravention is also required.
Substantial post qualification experience in BC and deputising for principal as necessary. Broad experience in every aspect of BC procedures and legislation
Good communication and office skills – written/verbal/IT
You should also:
Be a team worker who is self-motivated, organised, methodical, and flexible and able to work under pressure to meet targets
Full UK driving licence and have daily use of a motor vehicle to carry out site visits is required
