Job Summary
AECOM is seeking candidates for an Architectural Designer IV position to be based in our Roanoke, VA office. Nestled in the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains, Roanoke is a place with a strong sense of community, culturally rich, offers wonderful entertainment and outdoor activities.

About the Roanoke office:
Celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2017, AECOM's Roanoke office employs over 150 architects, engineers and professional staff. Primary markets include Department of Defense, Healthcare, Federal Civilian and Intelligence. Past projects include the Pentagon's Wedge 1 Renovation, a building-wide modernization of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, and concept engineering services for the consolidation of Bethesda National Naval and Walter Reed Army Medical Centers. Our current projects are located in 12 countries throughout North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Overseeing finished plans, specifications, and material approval
  • Preparing designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and working drawings
  • Developing details and edits specifications
  • Adapting and modifying design features and operational methods to meet a variety of situations
  • Directing the activities of architectural personnel
  • Coordinating design activities with other disciplines
  • Providing technical leadership to assigned projects to assure that all technical work produced is of high quality and within the context of schedule and budget

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor of Architecture or equivalent
  • 8 years of relevant experience
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Photoshop and PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge in Revit
  • Diverse knowledge of architecture principles and practices
  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. Citizenship required
  • Must possess a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications
  • Licensed architect in VA
  • Certification as a LEED Accredited Professional by the USGBC
  • Proficiency in Building Information Modeling
  • Experience with SketchUp and Illustrator

This position is contingent upon award of contract.
