Summary: Responsible for performing routine building maintenance tasks, under the general direction of the facilities manager or supervisor, including but not limited to electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, some HVAC and other tasks as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Inspects buildings and other structures and equipment to identify and correct malfunctions and needed repairs.
•Performs minor electrical maintenance to include replacement or repair of fixtures, switches, receptacles, bulbs, ballasts, cords, etc.
•Performs minor repairs of plumbing fixtures, flush valves, faucets, waterless urinal cartridges, unclogging drains, etc.
•Repairs, modifies, constructs, fabricates, installs and maintains buildings structures and equipment to provide safe conditions for employees and customers using various hand power and trade tools.
•Performs minor carpentry, masonry, paintings, and dry-wall repairs.
•Replaces and repairs ceiling tiles and ceiling grids systems to correct damaged or stained tiles.
•Provides technical expertise to facilities personnel and outside contractors to assist in understanding specific job requirements using diagrams, layouts, blueprints to meet local, state and Port Authority code requirements.
•Must be available to assist with snow removal and for responding to on call emergencies during off duty hours, as necessary.
•Other duties may be assigned, as needed.

Experience/Education Required:
• Education and/or Experience:
•High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 5 years related experience and/or trade school training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
•Must be at least age 21 and possess a valid drivers license
•Must be able to pass a 7-year company required background check to include drug testing
•A working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, air conditioning equipment
•Must have great initiative and require minimum supervision once fully trained

Language Skills:
•Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence
•Ability to effectively present information on a one-on-one basis with fellow employees
•Since English is the language of aviation, building service worker should have the ability to comprehend simple English, especially pertaining to safety and security instructions.

Mathematical Skills:
•Must be able to perform mathematical computations relevant to job

Reasoning Ability:
•Ability to apply common sense, understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
•Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
•Ability to obtain Hyster lift License
•Obtain Airport Ramp Operations Certificate (within 90 days of employment)
•Any other related trade licenses is a plus

Other Skills and Abilities:
•Basic oral and written communication skills
•Basic computer skills

Specific vision required for this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust and focus.
