General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Advanced Configuration Management Engineer to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to deliver end-to-end solutions in configuration management (CM), product development and productivity. Key Responsibilities

Senior Advanced Configuration Management Engineers are responsible for establishing and maintaining configuration management tools and supporting configuration identification, control, reporting, release and delivery of products and systems.

Responsibilities may include the following:
  • Implement and maintain a software Configuration Management tool such as ClearCase, Subversion or similar tool
  • Prepare a written overview of the Configuration Management Plan which will describe the processes, procedures and information sources to be followed
  • Move sofware through the Development and formal testing phases
  • Implementation of a method for program baseline control, reconciliing software builds, establishment of a Configuration Control Board process
  • Implement the Engineering Release process
  • Provide support for software development, implementation and maintenance of a media library for all program technical documents
  • Train others to use configuration management tools

  • Exercise creative thinking and ideation to advance our business performance
  • Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers changing business needs
  • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the General Dynamics Mission Systems culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures
  • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure General Dynamics Mission Systems services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices

Basic Qualifications:

Candidates must show a passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of configuration management, expertise in productivity tools and procedures, and the ability to effectively manage, grow and evolve General Dynamics Mission Systems product development and systems. The Advanced Configuration Management Engineer position requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related specialized area or the equivalent, and 8 to 10 years of related experience; or a master's degree with 5 to eight years of related experience. Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

The successful candidates should possess the following skills/traits:
  • Software configuration management build experience on a system integration program
  • The ability to work well in a team environment including forming strong working relationships with program leadership
  • The ability to identify and resolve customer needs before issues arise
  • Integrity
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Unix/Linux
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
