General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Hardware Engineer to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to research and develop General Dynamics Mission Systems and client hardware technologies. Key Responsibilities
General Dynamics Mission Systems Senior Hardware Engineers research, design and develop information processing hardware as well as various electrical components, mechanisms, materials, circuitry, equipment and processes. In addition to defining the requirements necessary for hardware system architecture, these Engineers evaluate system performance, implement test plans and handle design documentation. These employees are also responsible for integrating and interconnecting General Dynamics Mission Systems hardware units.

    • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the General Dynamics Mission Systems culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures.

    • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure General Dynamics Mission Systemss services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices.

Basic Qualifications:

Candidates must demonstrate a passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of various hardware systems and the ability to further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems technology.

The Senior Hardware Engineer position requires a bachelors degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering , Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent and a minimum of three to five years of related work experience, or a masters degree and a minimum of one to two years of related work experience. .

Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Work closely with product design engineers to perform layout of high speed/high density multi-layer Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) to MIL/IPC standards using Mentor Graphics design tools.

Lead the development of CAD layout from symbol creation, manage library (component footprints, schematic symbols) and detailed component placement, constraints management, with a concept of topology and signal/trace integrity.

Work closely with other Engineers within the organization to brainstorm solutions, challenge designs and actively participate in design reviews.
