We are actively seeking a Senior Camera Systems Engineering Lead for our growing backlog of optic/camera projects where you will join us in developing technologies to enhance camera performance and to provide new camera features.

The Senior Camera Systems Engineering Lead will be responsible for:

  • Leading and performing systems-level analysis

  • Systems and image simulation

  • Use case definition

  • Development of system requirements

  • Systems performance including development of system level tests Knowledge you'll need to bring includes:

  • Experience with modeling imaging systems

  • Experience with numerical methods and applied mathematics

  • Broad knowledge of engineering concepts (device behavior, data analysis, and systems modeling)

  • Familiarity with computational photography concepts and algorithms

  • Familiarity with imaging technology

  • Familiarity with VIS (Visible), SWIR (Short Wave Infrared), MWIR (Mid Wave Infrared) , LWIR (Long Wave Infrared) image sensors technology

  • Exposure to optical concepts and optical design

  • Ability to execution efforts and adhere to deadlines

  • Ability to identify and manage risks

  • Identify, develop, analyze, and report project metrics

  • Implement effective corrective actions

  • Manage resolution of technical issues, communicate the resolution to all affected parties, and ensure that the resolution is carried out in all of the affected artifacts

Basic Qualifications:

Education and Experience

Candidates should demonstrate sophisticated problem solving skills, as well as an ability to design, develop and implement innovative General Dynamics Global Imaging Technologies business solutions. The Sr. Advanced Optics Engineer must have a bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a technical field with equivalent experience, and eight to ten years of related experience. Applicants with a master's degree and six to eight years of professional experience also qualify.

Applicants should have experience in the following areas:

  • Performing the systems-level analysis and modeling of imaging and camera test systems using Matlab or equivalent tools including modeling of optics, target, atmospheric, environment and image processing

  • Defining and documenting the systems architectures and system specifications for new features

  • Analyzing and characterizing electrical, optical, and optoelectronic components for new systems

  • Designing and performing laboratory experiments, and documenting the results

  • Managing project deliverables and schedules to meet commitments to product development teams

Must be able to travel 20% of the time. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
