Posted Date 7/18/2016
Category Engineering-Software

Responsibilities for this Position:

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS), a market leader and technology innovator, is seeking talented professionals to deliver cutting edge solutions to our customers.

We are seeking a Software Engineer who will participate in our Flexible Development Program. This job requisition is for a position that requires a high level security clearance. We recognize that it takes 12-24 months to complete the clearance approval process. We will really want you to dig in right away, so we'll be able to connect you with an equally challenging development position that does not require the high level clearance, that may even be in a different location than described in this requisition.

This development position may be in another part of GDMS performing similar work for the duration of your clearance approval process. This unique opportunity will introduce you to different technologies, systems, programs, and customers, creating a rewarding experience right out of the gate. It will also provide an opportunity to get a broader understanding of our geographically distributed organization. Once your security clearance is approved, you will transition to the position described in this requisition. GDMS will cover all relocation and professional development costs.

As a Software Engineer - Flex Development Program, you will assist in the design and implementation of a large system development and integration effort using Agile Scrum methodology. You will be part of a high-performing team, interfacing with other software engineers, systems engineer, information assurance engineers, test engineers, configuration management personnel, and other project team members.

Your Primary Responsibilities will include:
  • Coding and testing software based on User Stories and other system engineering artifacts as part of an Agile Scrum team
  • Ensuring that developed code is modifiable, efficient, reliable, understandable, and fault tolerant
  • Using software tools to develop domain software and support software reuse and refactoring
  • Identifying software components and interface requirements, and supporting the software configuration management process
  • Supporting all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, system design, software development, testing, documentation, and maintenance, for a complex software system/application
  • Implementing Test Driven Development (TDD) practices within the Agile framework to ensure the proper degree of engineering rigor is applied to all assigned tasks

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in software engineering, a related technical field or the equivalent experience is required. In addition, a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience is required.

Travel may be required.

Candidates must be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
