About the Business Line
We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design-build.

Job Summary
The water division of AECOM is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join our Surface Water group in the Orange, CA office. The Water Resources Engineer will be a team member involved in the preparations of hydrologic and hydraulic studies, drainage master plans, sediment transport analysis, flood control and storm drain facility design, transportation drainage and related projects. The candidate will have an opportunity to work on a wide variety of surface water related type projects in flood control, storm water conservation, and ecosystems restoration.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using modeling tools required by public works agencies in southern California and the US Army Corps of Engineers
  • Prepare hydraulic design drawings for open channels, storm drains, levees, and flood walls, detention basins, etc.
  • Prepare floodplain maps to support FEMA CLOMR/LOMR studies
  • Perform sediment transport analysis
  • Perform bridge hydraulic and scour studies
  • Prepare construction cost estimates for drainage facilities
  • Prepare H/H technical appendices for NEPA/CEQA documents
  • Prepare drainage study and basis of design reports
  • Prepare scope of work and fees to support the development of project proposals

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • 5 years' experience
  • California PE License
  • Knowledge and experience in hydrology/hydraulics studies, storm drain and open channel design, master drainage plans, transportation drainage design, and sediment transport studies
  • Experience with Autocad, GIS, HEC Hydrology/hydraulic models, WSPG, StormCad, and local hydrology procedures in southern California
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
