About the Business Line
AECOM's Global Support Services (GSS) organization resides within AECOM's Government business line and is comprised of three divisions - International Development, Operations and Mission Support, and Global Programs. GSS has the international presence, personnel networks and procurement infrastructure to deliver support for any mission, anywhere. Job Summary
AECOM is seeking an Electrical/I&C Engineer 3 to be based in our Oak Ridge, TN project office. The incumbent engineer will support a process facility project for the Department of Energy (DOE) which will replace many of the aging nuclear capabilities of the United States nuclear program. The Engineer is responsible for performing a variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing research, development, design, manufacture, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of diverse electronic/mechanical equipment and systems and generally as a member of a design, analysis or review team on more complex assignments or as a lead on less complex assignments.

Essential Responsibilities:

Perform a range of design development, analysis or review tasks under minimal supervision.
Act as a lead on less complex tasks and responsible for a portion of a design or section of an analysis or design review.
Generate complete design specifications of more complex projects.
Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements.
Establish and maintain a filing system or databases as needed for tracking project status.
Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.
Direct interface and liaison with customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
Conduct site visits, experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations.
Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.
Support development of technical proposal and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering degree from an ABET accredited program is required.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Five (5) years Electrical and/or I&C engineering experience.
  • Experience developing wiring diagrams and schematics, capable of preparing specifications, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical write ups.
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable NFPA 70 (NEC) and ANSI/IEEE Standards.
  • Proficiency with development of procurement and construction specifications for electrical/control equipment and materials.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Due to the nature of the work, all candidates must be US citizens.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance.
Additional Information:
  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Requirements:
  • Professional Engineer License a plus.
  • Experience in the design of DOE facilities and equipment.
  • Experience in fossil power and/or NRC nuclear power facilities and equipment.

Specific experience in the following:
  • medium - and low voltage electrical distribution
  • computer - aided power systems analysis
  • power quality investigations and analysis
  • standby power applications
  • motor control applications
  • grounding/lightning protections
  • cathodic protection
  • electrical design for hazardous location
  • facility electrical systems design
  • electrical safety code compliance

Specific knowledge and experience in the following:
  • programmable logic controllers
  • distributed process control
  • data acquisition and monitoring
  • local panel and control console design
  • human - machine interface systems
