Responsibilities for this Position:

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) has an immediate opening for Entry-Level Technician & Field Installer to join our Richardson, TX team. The position provides an opportunity to work directly with some of our nation's fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. You will work with collaborative teams to secure clients information systems and their contents. Up to 75% travel is required with typical installation period being between 2 to 3 weeks with some as long as 8 weeks.

Among the objectives you will be able to achieve in this position:

  • Perform a variety of equipment/process operations involving an application or technical skills in a specific area (electrical, software, manufacturing, etc.) including installations of earth station satellite antennas in work sites around the globe.
  • Interpret basic engineering drawings, diagrams and schematics
  • Construct, modify, debug, test and adjust a variety of tools and equipment given appropriate drawings, parts and instructions
  • Implement basic practical solutions for process improvement
  • Conduct and document experiments under guidance of senior technicians
  • Construct basis tooling and fixtures to accomplish unique tasks
  • Organize data to identify cause/effect relationships and recommends resolution/process improvement
  • May perform routine/basic preventative maintenance tasks
  • Maintain logs, records and files of technical information
  • Identify appropriate circumstances in looking for and responding to direction/information from more knowledgeable technicians/engineers
  • Receive and execute instructions

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School degree plus related Associates degree from Jr. College, Trade School, Mil Tech Training or equivalent
  • Must be able to travel up to 75% annually
  • Must have strong electronic skills, interpret various schematics and drawings, and have a good mechanical aptitude
  • Must be able handle working in tight spaces, lift equipment up to 50lbs, know how to use lifting devices for equipment weighing more than 50lbs, work from heights well above 10ft, and in various weather conditions
