About the Business Line
Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary
AECOM is seeking Mechanical Designers to be based in our Oak Ridge, TN location. The Mechanical designer produces 3D models, drawings and fabrication packages of Custom Equipment Piping and HVAC, individually and as part of design team. Typical equipment includes confinement ventilation enclosures and hoods), small scale process piping & equipment power piping, fire sprinkler/fire suppression systems, furnace systems and pressure vessels.

Minimum Requirements
  • Associates degree in engineering discipline.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Minimum of six (6) years broad mechanical design (engineering experience).
  • Must have mechanical design experience using 3D design software (i.e. ProEngineer, SmartPlant (S3D) or CAD).
  • Demonstrated capability in creating detailed fabrication drawing packages.
  • Proficient in the design of custom equipment (i.e. confinement ventilation enclosures and hoods, small scale process piping & equipment power piping, fire sprinkler/fire suppression systems, furnace systems and pressure vessels).
  • Capability in development of design documentation including, creating detailed Bills of Materials, completing equipment datasheets and design record documents.
  • Due to the nature of the work, all candidates must be US citizens.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior government and/or DOE experience.
  • Experience in small scale process piping & equipment power piping.
  • Experience in equipment power piping.
  • Experience with HVAC design.
  • Experience with fire sprinkler/fire suppression systems.
  • Experience confinement ventilation enclosures and hoods.
