Project Engineer
Day Shift

Primary Purpose of the Role:

As a member of the Field Operations team (Migration Area Team) as a Project Engineer you will be working the 4LM Project. Ideally this role will be suited to an individual with a strong technical background in rail signalling but also with some management support experience.
The purpose of this role is to support and direct the Contract Works in the allocated migration area, co-ordinating both Thales staff and sub-contractors where applicable. Support the Migration Area Tester In Charge (MA TIC) with the production of technical documentation, test plans and supporting documentation. Liaise with technical stake holders and conduct investigations to support efficient test session planning which includes monitoring of resource requirements in terms of competencies and licenses within the team.

You will report to the Field Operations Manager and Migration Area Tester in Charge to assist them to manage, monitor and control the systems activities for this project and acting as a key liaison between Field Operations, Engineering and Project Management.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

Excellent Safety culture maintained across team including cascading of relevant safety bulletins
Ensure all assigned work is within the defined/agreed scope of activities and completed to schedule, budget (agreed hours) and to quality
Ensure reporting of all Compensation Event (CE) related to frustrated access.
Conduct planning sessions with relevant stakeholders to ensure maximum utilisation of engineering time or weekend closures.
Support TICs with development of Test & Commissioning plans and results analysis & certification.
Maintain detailed team plan and schedule for site test activities reporting schedule issues
Ensure team licenses match team profiles to ensure completion of all allocated tasks on a nightly basis
Communication of activities to night teams on a daily basis
Support raising of test logs and discussion of test requirements for site activities.
Support Software Release Readiness Reviews ahead of software deployment.
Identify continuous improvement opportunities and manage the change as appropriate
Ensure all reporting requirements are met in a timely and accurate manner

Skills & Experience


5 Years working in the rail industry
Knowledge of test processes and methods
Proficient in understanding/reading signalling/electrical diagrams & schematics
Good written and communication skills
Good understanding of planning methods and site access requirements
Experience liaising with customer and broader project stakeholder group
Awareness of LUL standards and conversant with basic safety requirements
Good IT skills required us MS Office (Word/Excel) etc…


Qualified as or working towards certification of IRSE licence Signalling Project Engineer (1.2.230v2)
Knowledge of communication systems, network cabling and fibre installation
Knowledge of TBTC / CBTC moving block signalling technologies
Experience of urban rail signalling and central control room installation works


IRSE Licensed
