Reporting to the Assistant Director Rail Telecoms you will be responsible for leading and managing the delivery of telecoms design packages and providing specialist technical support and assistance to rail infrastructure projects both in the UK and overseas.|
Previous rail telecoms project experience
The successful candidate will be providing professional telecoms input throughout the complete project lifecycle (GRIP 1-8), with a particular emphasis on GRIP 3, 4 and 5 design associated with station upgrade and operational telecommunication schemes.
Responsibilities may include, on a project by project basis, the provision of telecoms engineering input into: Feasibility Studies/Option Analysis/Appraisal; Scheme Development; Detailed Design Production.
•Relevant degree in Engineering discipline
•Greater experience without an engineering degree will also be considered (possibly including IRSE license or ONC/HNC in an engineering discipline)
•Member of IET and IRSE
•Delivery of engineering (design and consultancy) specific tasks
•Leading the technical input on specific projects and guiding others in the delivery of designs to budget, time and quality standards
•Contribution to the engineering input to multi-disciplinary railway engineering (design and consultancy) projects
•Observation and application of company quality, health & safety, environmental, commercial and project management disciplines and procedures, as relevant to tasks undertaken
•Ability to work to timescales and budgets.

•Knowledge of telecoms principles, standards, circuits, components and tools
•Enthusiastic team player with a flexible approach. Self-motivated and able to work under own initiative. Good oral and written communications skills.
•Relevant experience in telecommunications engineering design for the rail sector is essential.
•Will have extensive knowledge of the technical aspects of the design office environment and delivery of design from out-based design teams.
•Knowledge of Project Management techniques and procedures, commercial issues.
•Will lead teams of engineers and technicians working on multi-disciplinary railway projects.
•Will be responsible for supervising work, ensuring that it is carried out to the appropriate technical standard and that it is managed to programme and budget.
•Will play a key part in the management and running of the department.
