About the role:
We are looking for Healthcare Assistants with experience of supporting children who require complex care. You will need to have had prior exposure to supporting a child's suctioning requirements, monitoring a pump feed and oxygen levels.
Our client is a four month old infant who sustained a brain injury at birth characterised by episodes of excessive secretions and therefore unable to swallow. He requires suctioning and requires his feeding to be monitored. Our young client lives with both his parents and his older sibling.
This package requires 1:1 care, 7 nights a week.
You will be required to observe our client, provide suctioning, monitor their breathing, pump feeds via NJT tube, administer medication via an NGT tube and personal care.
Accurate record keeping is a prerequisite for this role.
Following skills & experience required:
• 6 months previous care experience
• Experience of working with clients with complex care needs (advantageous)
• Excellent communication skills, written, verbal and listening
• Have a caring and compassionate attitude
• Can commit to regular hours
• Tracheostomy care
• Gastrostomy care
• Ventilation care
• Medication management
