Job Responsibilities:
Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Specialist

Location: candidate can be located in Montreal or Ottawa

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Operations Leader, the incumbent will be responsible for promoting health, safety and environmental respect amongst Golder employees, clients and contractors. The incumbent will act as a subject matter expert and offer the necessary support in developing and implementing HSE management systems and prevention practices. The HSE Advisor will be responsible for all HSE projects and initiatives for Quebec, the Atlantic Provinces and Eastern Ontario. The incumbent will ensure Golder's conformity to federal, provincial and municipal legislations and regulations and Golder's internal requirements.

Job Requirements:
The incumbent's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Act as an HSE advisor to the organization regarding prevention and risks reduction;
* As a business partner, work closely with the managers, consultants, clients, and employees in the application of various HSE programs;
* Participate in the subcontractor management process;
* Promote and develop a HSE culture of excellence and commitment;
* Participate in the implementation and development of national initiatives;
* Provide guidance and expertise in the analysis of work health and safety;
* Supervise sites inspections to identify potentials risks;
* Take a leadership role during HSE audits, in the planning of action plans, and in the application of corrective measures;
* Liaise with federal, provincial and municipal HSE regulators as required;
* Participate and supervise incident investigations and assist managers in the development and implementation of correctives measures and follow-up;
* Review HSE reports (Injuries, Near Misses, Hazards, Property Damage, etc.) and take appropriate corrective actions when necessary or provide assistance;
* Participate as a facilitator in internal training.

Conditions of Employment
* University degree in a relevant field (HSE, environment, occupational health and safety, engineering, sciences)
* Minimum of eight (8) years of OHS experience (ideally in an industrial environment, construction or mining);
* Perfectly bilingual (French/English);
* CRSP/PSAC preferred;
* IHSA - Certificate of Recognition (COR™) an asset.
* Knowledge of ISO 14001 / OHSAS 18001 / ISO 4500;
* Available for overtime and travel;
* ASP construction certification;

* Strong persuasive ability to ensure management and employees are involved;
* Ability to develop and maintain relationships with employees and different departments;

* Solid experience in accident investigations;
* Ability to prioritize effectively to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure;
