Division or Project Summary
OLRT (Ottawa Light Rail Transit) Constructors consisting of SNC-Lavalin Constructors (Pacific) Inc., and 2 partner companies, have unique and challenging career opportunities to be an integral part of the project to design and build the Confederation Line.

From Tunney's Pasture in the west to Blair Station in the east, the Confederation Line will bring Ottawa together through faster, easier transportation to, from and across the city's downtown. Key components of the project's initial phase include the construction of 12.5 km of guideway, 10 above-ground stations, 3 underground stations and a 2.5 km tunnel beneath the downtown core. The consortium will also widen Highway 417 between Nicholas Street to the Highway 174 split, supply the light rail transit vehicles, build a maintenance and storage facility, and provide ongoing maintenance of the system for a 30-year period.

Job Description
The successful candidate will be integral to the Confederation Line testing activities. They will be responsible for coordinating the work of subcontractors in a specific T&C area and ensure all work is done in accordance with T&C rules and procedures.

This position requires an individual that has diverse technical knowledge and is willing to work in a dynamic environment. They must be organized, have the ability to plan ahead and be able to direct others. "Zero Incident Performance" is the key safety message for the OLRT project.

NA, plan and execute all T&C activities within assigned geographic area.
NA access points to T&C Sites within their assigned geographic area.
NA and close out all Work and Occupancy Permits.
NA with the T&C Manager, Deputy T&C Manager and Test Technicians to safely and efficiently prepare for test and/or work activities within T&C site.
NA verbal clearances to Controllers for train movements through occupancy areas.
NA test procedures to ensure the test may be accomplished with minimal engineering support and records test results in a Test Report.
NA deficiencies in deficiency tracking system as a result of unexpected reactions during the tests.
NA have to re-perform tests or take corrective action under direction of the engineer or T&C Manager (using deficiency tracking system reports).
NA be capable to operate a variety of test equipment such as: multi-meter, oscilloscope, chart recorder, video recorder, laptop with proprietary software.
NA be capable to operate small hand tools and cordless devices to perform mechanical and electrical repairs and adjustments.

•Possession of a technical degree or diploma (or equivalent) in either a mechanical, electronic or electrical discipline.
•Eligibility for registration with either OACETT or PEO is desirable.
•Minimum of technician status with three years' experience in a mechanical, electronic or electrical discipline.
•Strong working knowledge in a secondary discipline either mechanical, electronic or electrical with three years' experience.
•Sound knowledge of worksite safe working practices; ability to follow the T&C Safety Plan.
•Ability to work independently with minimal instruction and as directed by the activities defined in the T&C Schedule.
•In most cases the manufacturers' representatives will be involved with the Site Acceptance Test activities. The Area Coordinator may be required to create integration test procedures and execute by coordinating with other testing in accordance with 30 and 90 day T&C Look Ahead Schedule.
•Area Coordinators are expected to be versatile and innovative problem solvers, often in consultation with domain specialists.
•Will be required to perform Job Hazard Analysis (StepBack) and implement mitigations to the identified hazards.
•Ability to read test procedures and understand requirements to perform the testing in a safe and efficient manner.
•Ability to work in a team environment or independently with excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
•Able to chair meetings and produce minutes. Lead daily safety toolbox briefings and retain written records.
•Ability to direct others with verbal instruction via telephone or radio. Ability to create written step-by-step instructions for technicians and other field testers.
•Working knowledge of MS Office 2007 and Outlook.
•Should be familiar with working in a construction environment with both union and nonunionized workers.
•Must be able to enforce the T&C Rules & Procedures to provide a safe testing environment.
•Must be able to understand and administer the Work Authorization Process.
•Ability to take charge in an emergency and direct others to perform a variety of tasks to assist the City of Ottawa Emergency Services.
•Must be able to deal with competing priorities and manage their time appropriately.
•Able to plan, lead and record results of meetings and toolbox briefings.
•Must be organized and disciplined.
•Required to provide and maintain the 30 day look-a-heads portion of the Project Schedule.
