Job Summary
AECOM is seeking an Estimating Lead to be based in our Sherwood Park, Alberta location.

This position will oversee and collectively prepare comprehensive, accurate, and consistent industrial cost estimates/proposals for projects between $1M to $700M. Provides leadership and direction to estimating team members as well as ensures compliance to all company Infrastructure's processes and procedures. Interfaces and provides continual support to the project team as well to additional internal and/or external clients.

Responsibilities may include:
  • Leads a team that prepares comprehensive, accurate and timely industrial Civil, Mechanical, Electrical & Instrumentation estimates within a wide range of values
  • Provide direction to estimators in preparation of estimates in accordance with the company estimating procedure
  • Establish estimating parameters, factors, productivity and craft mix based on analysis of other company projects
  • Document estimate build-up and communicate details effectively to internal and external clients
  • Interface and provide on-going technical support to construction
  • Cooperate with and coordinates activities with other departments that contribute to the estimating process
  • Conducts performance management reviews with direct reports
  • Develop, maintain and issue a bi-weekly estimating progress report
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: Mentor, coaches and develops direct reports, provide daily direction to estimators
  • Budgetary Responsibilities: Manage project-estimating budget & optimize recoverability of staff

Minimum Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
  • Minimum of College diploma/certificate required
  • A degree or professional designation in a relevant technical discipline
  • Candidates without formal educational qualifications may be considered, provided they have an extensive estimating experience in the construction industry
  • A degree, professional designation in a relevant technical discipline or relevant journeyman trade certification
  • 10 years or more years of practical, hands on, and successful experience in organizing, preparing, and documenting estimates for Industrial construction projects
  • Must have demonstrated computer competency, especially with Microsoft Excel
  • WHMIS Certification required

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Requirements:
  • Thorough knowledge of estimating techniques and strategies
  • Thorough knowledge of industrial construction
  • Having excellent organizational, supervisory, and decision making/problem solving skills
  • Ability to calculate mathematical extensions, analyze and understand construction drawings and associated documentation, contracts, cost coding systems, work breakdown structures, etc.
  • Ability to assume responsibility and to interface and to communicate effectively with others, having strong interpersonal skills and self-motivation
  • Expert computer skills : Microsoft Excel
