The VIRGINIA Program Office is establishing three construction program representatives positions at Newport News Shipbuilding. The positions will either be responsible to plan and execute initial reactor plant construction and test, including pressure hull complete through final assembly, test, delivery, and Post Shakedown Availabilities of VIRGINIA Class ships at Newport News Shipbuilding. Other positions will be responsible for the oversight of the early manufacturing and modular outfitting work at Newport News for all ships. These positions will both work cooperatively with each other, and other EB/NNS program representatives at Groton, QP, and NNS.|
These positions report to the VIRGINIA Construction Program Manager onsite at Newport News Shipbuilding. The general responsibility for the positions includes achieving sales, earnings, cost and schedule performance on the VIRGINIA Class construction contracts for assigned ships or modules. The position represents the primary construction interface with Newport News/Groton/QP Trades, Ships Management, Support Departments, Ships Force and the NAVSEA/SUPSHIP customer assigned ships. Key objectives for assigned are: (1) Serve as the primary EB interface for construction tasks and activities (2) Work with Ships Management, SUPSHIPS and Ships Force to ensure crew training and certification requirements are integrated with the ships construction and test schedule. (3) Achieve sales and earnings. (4) Continuously measure each functional areas performance against the program plan and initiate prompt corrective action should results not be in accordance with the program plan. (5) Serve as primary representative at EB for interaction with the customer (6) Foster continuous improvement across all value streams.
