The role combines analysis based justification work, verification and validation of components and the reactive responses required by manufacturing and operational issues. |
Providing support to customers around the rapid evaluation of problems and defects, and giving specialist advice to prepare and present solutions.
Supporting the manufacturing of components, the resolution of manufacturing queries and defining, planning and reporting development.
Writing safety justifications to support the plant life extension of components in service. Preparation of technical documentation such as design specifications, design reports and procurement specifications as well as substantiation against code and functional requirements.
Liaison with suppliers (internal and external) to ensure equipment and/or technical reports is supplied in accordance with project requirements.
Understanding of risk assessments in accordance with legislative requirements.
Qualifications and experience
Degree qualified applicants with a bias towards Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience) Design substantiation
Experience in pressure vessel structural integrity, design or manufacture not detailed stress but general overview.
Experience of working in the Nuclear Industry is desirable, particularly an understanding of a nuclear safety case structure. Alternatively, experience in a relevant industry, such as heavily regulated operations, or products and services where high levels of reliability and integrity are required â€" however any industry with pressure vessels is ok.
Experience of using ASME (likely 8) or other relevant design codes.
Chartered engineer or be able to demonstrate sufficient experience to become Chartered.
