Job Summary
AECOM has an immediate need for a Senior Electrical Engineer to work our Roanoke, VA office supporting our Business Engineering practice. Located in the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains, Roanoke offers rich cultural, entertainment and outdoor activities and a strong sense of community.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Design building power, lighting, telecommunications and security systems
  • Independently evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications
  • Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position
  • Broad exposure to different types of projects including some experience across different business lines

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required
  • 10 years of experience
  • Licensed or registered professional engineer (PE) required
  • Understanding of Electrical power systems for commercial, Government and institutional facilities including office tenant space, utilities and support facilities - This includes an understanding of electrical system load and short circuit analysis.
  • Understanding of Lighting and lighting control systems for commercial, Government and institutional facilities - This includes familiarity with lighting calculations, occupancy control, and application of state of the art materials to projects
  • Familiarity with the National Electric Code
  • Displayed ability to execute complete, accurate and coordinated project design assignments on time and within budget
  • Understands overall project constraints including design budget limitations and schedule requirements
  • Interact and communicate effectively with other team members and disciplines. Effective written and verbal communication skills a must
  • Experience with REVIT, AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
  • Limited travel as required to meet training and project requirements
  • US Citizenship is required
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a secret security clearance
  • Valid driver's license required

Preferred Qualifications
  • Federal or healthcare project experience strongly desired
  • Experience with BIM (Autodesk Revit) software
  • Working knowledge of Electrical system analysis tools (E-TAP or SKM)
  • LEED Accreditation
