Job Summary
We are currently seeking a Structural Engineer to join our growing Bridge and Tunnel Structures Inspection Group in the AECOM Providence, RI office. As an Inspection team member, you will be expected to participate in inspections, take measurements and notes, follow direction of Team Leader, and participate in preparing inspection reports.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Perform inspections
  • Assist in determining critical issues and elevate them as necessary
  • Assist team leaders and follow their inspection skills to form a cohesive inspection team
  • Get involved with rehabilitation design calculations or details, plans and/or specifications as needed
  • Prepare reports, opinions and recommendations for review by team leaders prior to submission to clients concerning the structures
  • Ensure conformance with standards, established engineering practices, applicable codes and technical adequacy of design and construction
  • Keep abreast of new methods and developments
  • General office administration, including report reproduction, collation and deliveries will also be expected

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • 5 years of related experience including extensive experience (5 years or more) as a bridge/tunnel inspector, qualified to be an NBIS team leader
  • Must be able to apply technical training to perform basic calculations, work well in a team setting and be willing to work diligently to learn new skills
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly

Preferred Qualifications
  • NHI 2-week bridge inspection training and current refresher training (within 4 years)
  • Additional NHI trainings, including fracture critical inspection training
  • Current certification to access MBTA and AMTRAK properties, as well as OSHA 10 hour training
  • Knowledge of BRM and the RIDOT Bridge Inspection Program
