General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Submarine Missile Training Engineer to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to perform technical activities that impact the design and manufacturing of advanced electronic systems. Key Responsibilities

Submarine Missile Training Engineers perform technical activities which impact the proposal, system-level design, detail design and manufacturing of advanced electronics systems. This position requires technical disciplines such as component engineering, failure analysis, human factors engineering and/or material engineering.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Plan, develop and coordinate training programs for personnel, Navy Strategic Systems (SSP), and Air Force Nuclear Weapons Security (NWS) customers.
  • Analyze technical data from engineers and engineering drawings and reports to develop quality and engaging training content.
  • Develop and maintain lesson plans and training material content covering description, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting data of SSBN, SSGN, and NWS courses.
  • Develop training material and support technical storyboard reviews in a blended training environment. Conduct training sessions and develop criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities.

Basic Qualifications:

Candidates must show a passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of advanced electronics systems, and the ability to further advance and support General Dynamics Mission Systems network technology.

The Submarine Missile Training Engineer position requires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Systems or Electrical Engineering or a specialized discipline or the equivalent experience, and a minimum of 5 - 8 years of related experience; or master's degree and 3 - 5 years of related experience.

Required Key Skill(s):
  • Strong communication (written and oral) and presentation skills
  • Able to interact with and develop a positive relationship with customer and other contractors
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Fire Control System (FCS) technical database
  • Fire Control Fault Isolation and Maintenance
  • Able to adapt and deliver creative solutions based on customer needs
  • Able to generate training content from technical documents and drawings
  • Ability to travel 10% to 20% throughout the year.
  • 6+ years of Navy MT/Fire Control experience.

Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within 24 months of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
