About the Business Line
Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary

  • Serves as investigation /remediation technical expert for the remediation practice in Africa.
Business Development / Client Management:
  • Prepares and implements business development programs with the support of EMIA environment.
  • Participates in business development activities, including planning, scheduling, client relations, marketing, proposal preparation (writing proposals and/or performing peer review), and presentations.
  • Maintains professional relations and contacts with clients, peers and competitors.
  • Presents and explains proposals, reports, and findings to clients.
  • Consults or negotiates with clients to prepare project specifications.
Project Management:
  • Plans, coordinates, develops, and monitors investigation / remediation projects to completion (in South Africa and other African countries), writing reports or performing report peer review.
  • Works with multiple teams in Africa and in EMIA to pursue, manage and deliver projects.
  • Establishes, promotes, and assures quality on all projects and work performance.
  • Proactively monitors projects to identify and address financial, safety and liability issues, as well as to ensure completion on schedule.
  • Identifies when project requirements exceed available technical skills or manpower capacity and develops plan of action with next level management to seek help from other work units, hire new staff, and/or subcontract work, etc.
General Management:
  • Develops operating and growth plans including staffing.
  • Responsible for the remediation team (approximately 10 staff) management planning, organizing, controlling, reporting and leading.
  • Determines workload for the remediation team, including short, medium and long term business goals and objectives.
  • Maintains effective communication within the team and with clients.
  • Identifies, analyzes and addresses the root causes of project issues.
  • Tracks and reports on the monthly financial performance, sales and backlog; may analyze and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assists with the annual budget planning process, including development and projections of team's metrics and requirements for growth.
  • Performs administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, and making recommendations about the purchase of materials or services.
  • May develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the technical work performed.

Minimum Requirements
Minimum 15 years relevant post-graduate experience in Remediation Services and Business development, preferably as a consultant.

Preferred Qualifications
MSc Degree in Geology or similar relevant discipline.
