Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking a Construction Inspector for immediate employment in the New York, NY office. This position will report to the MTACC Security Manager. This position will support a perimeter protection project during the construction of shallow-depth, modular, hydraulic barrier systems, security guard booths and structural bollards. The inspector shall provide site inspection, administrative support, contractor and quality control oversight. The inspector shall ensure work is performed in accordance with contract documents and with approved materials. Inspector shall ensure that the contractor provides a safe and high-quality finished product to the satisfaction of the MTACC/Contract.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Ensuring the facility remains dry during the removal and restoration/replacement of the existing waterproofing
  • Reviewing of design submittals for contract compliance/approval
  • Pre-construction survey of existing conditions
  • Coordinating site mobilization and site preparation
  • Coordinating Maintenance and Protection of vehicular traffic
  • Monitoring engineering controls, waterproofing removal and restoration surface preparation methods in accordance with Contract Drawings and Specifications
  • Monitoring daily and final site clean-up
  • Archival of records, documents and submittals, demobilization and facilitation of contract closeout
  • Preparing and maintaining daily construction reports, site progress photos and site activity records

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • 5 years of full time professional experience in construction inspection and project coordination and management experience in multiple disciplines (civil, electrical, mechanical)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Hands on experience inspecting and reporting on multi-disciplinary construction projects consisting of civil, electrical and mechanical installation and testing
  • Capable of working 5 nights a week if not more
  • Familiarity with New York State, New York City Design and Construction requirements and specifications
  • Ability to perform interagency activities coordination and submittal review
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with NYCDOT requirements, means and methods
  • Experience with NYSDOT Maintenance and Protection of traffic standards and specifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with MTA Capital Construction systems, requirements and means and methods
