The Project Engineer (Vehicles) will provide technical and project delivery support to Project Managers with responsibility for the delivery of the Company's protected platforms. In resolving issues, the individual must comply with the Company's QMS in that all PICR and engineering concessions must be completed to ensure follow up analysis, design and drawing pack releases support the corrective actions carried out on the production line. As the designated lead on cross departmental collaboration, the role will require the incumbent to liaise between the Engineering Design Department, QHSE, the Workshop Team Leaders and Supply Department to ensure all technical deliverable deadlines are met. There will also be a requirement to support the Project Manager in preparing formal (ie at PDR and CDR) and informal project stage reviews for the customer. The role will also include the responsibility for the coordination of component delivery to support prototyping and production builds through close liaison with the Supply Chain Manager.

Line management experience in low volume automotive production and experience of Toyota after-market products.

The Job
Office Base:
Based at the main production facility in West Sussex
Willing to travel occasionally to Weybridge, Surrey, UK wide, and internationally as required
Direct Reports:
None, although role has supervisory responsibility over prototype builds and production runs with the Workshop Manager and Team Leaders.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Ownership of the technical development of vehicle projects including proto-type builds.
• Approval of all order delivery timescales in conjunction with the Project and Supply Chain Managers.
• Confirmation of build specifications – including sign off of Build BoM Resourcing Plan.
• Provision of technical direction to the Production Manager and designated Team Leaders.
• Relationship management between Lead Design Engineers, Commercial, Supply Chain Manager and Production Manager.
• Reporting on weekly production milestones against a master production schedule.
• Reporting on weekly production status and stock levels of key components.
• Conducting customer progress reports where required.
• Management of production issues, risks and opportunities.
• Identification and planning of resources needed to support bespoke build orders to meet agreed delivery dates.
• Approving of all internal and customer documentation in line with the companies QMS.

Person Specification:
• Professional project and management qualifications such as:
• Business improvement qualifications or practical experience of tools such as:
o Six Sigma
• Technical electro-mechanical design or production engineering qualification to a minimum of:
o ONC/HNC or equivalent
• Line management experience in low volume automotive production.
• Experience of Toyota after-market products.
• Electro-mechanical engineering background and qualification(s) preferred.
• Experience of dealing with challenging customers.
• Understanding of system integration and configuration management.
• The satisfactory achievement of project milestones schedules and budgets.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Understanding of system integration and configuration management.
• Use of project management software tools such as SAP and ERP/MRP systems.
• Competent in the following project management techniques: Critical Path and Network generation.
• Eligible for UK Security Clearance to minimum SC (‘Secret’) level.
