The Job
A skilled Model based software engineer, experienced in whole lifecycle control software development. This is a hands-on role for an engineer who enjoys designing and implementing control software, as well as the creative problem solving and testing required to ensure it functions as intended on a vehicle.
The development of engine model based vehicle supervisory control software to support MIL/SIL/in-vehicle validation
Support the transition of control systems software
Design, implement and test control software using a model based development approach
Support prototype vehicle build and development
Write relevant specifications, requirements and test plans / reports
Maintain good relationships with customers
Evaluate the impact of work delays, interruptions or changes in plans to develop an appropriate course of action
Provision of technical input into the quotation process
Seeing projects through from conception to handover
Experience in automotive control systems design
Experience in powertrain architectures
Detailed control systems design, simulation, testing and implementation
Able to produce system and software specifications, requirements & test documents
Experienced user of MATLAB/Simulink for embedded control system design and validation, along with familiarity with powertrain modelling.
Experience with CCP & CAN based tools, e.g. INCA and CANalyzer
Experience and knowledge of whole vehicle electrical systems (high and low voltage)
Advanced capabilities in Microsoft Office applications
Excellent planning skills
Strong presentation, report writing and communication skills
Understanding and application of industry and legal standards relating to control systems
Proven track record in the effective delivery of technical objectives to quality and time targets
Able to lead projects
Highly motivated self-starter who actively seeks opportunities to develop new competences and opportunities to exploit existing competences in new ways
Able to work well under their own initiative, but also as part of a team
Comfortable working closely with clients, often on-site at client locations
Enthusiastic about learning new disciplines and expanding current technical and project knowledge
