We deliver creative solutions for building projects for industry, government, commercial and leisure sectors. Our building engineering specialists have expertise in structural and building services engineering, fire engineering, acoustics, facades and seismic design. Job Summary
AECOM's Buildings Places business line is dedicated to excellence and integrated design solutions. Our expertise includes workplace strategy, economic and development planning, master planning, urban planning, architecture, interiors, building engineering, and landscape architecture. Our B P team is leading the industry with visionary and forward-thinking projects such as the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, CA; Liberty Park at the World Trade Center, New York, NY; the Lower Manhattan Coastal Resilience (Big U), NY; and the LA 2024 Olympic bid. AECOM is actively seeking a Senior Structural Engineer for immediate employment in the Whitby, Ontario office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Structural design/retrofit and construction experience of industrial/commercial, institutional, and heavy civil and transit infrastructures. In particular:
  1. Transit Stations
  2. Manufacturing/Large Maintenance Facilities
  3. Justice/Government Buildings
  4. High-rise/multi-story buildings
  5. School/Educational Buildings
  6. Healthcare and Hospitals
  • Take responsibility for the preparation of structural calculations
  • Undertake structural analysis and design using both computer & hand techniques
  • Contribute to the independent technical review of analyses prepared by others
  • Conduct structural reviews and investigations of existing structures
  • Assist in the management of project delivery in order to provide clients with results on time and budget
  • Undertake structural design of structures using current Ontario and National Building Codes
  • Have a desire to learn new skills and the ability to consider the wider engineering issues related to the work being undertaken
  • Contribute to the broad range of technical skills that Advanced Structures team possesses
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary engineering projects, with ability to manage and coordinate supporting design inputs- with Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, and other design disciplines

Minimum Requirements
  • Engineering degree from a recognized university
  • 5 year's Canadian experience, not including EIT experience
  • PEO License in Ontario
  • Experience in successfully managing structural design projects
  • Ability to market AECOM and services directly to potential clients
  • Experience with business and contractual agreements
  • Experience in directing small teams of engineers and technicians
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiating, problem-solving and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • 10 years of overall structural design experience in structural steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures
  • NA license in other provinces and P.E. license in the US
  • NA or NA. in Structural/Civil Engineering
  • Project management training and PMP
  • Experience with design/build, alternative delivery (P3), and fast track projects
  • Bridge design and rehabilitation projects experience
  • Undertake structural design of structures using ACI and Euro standards
