Responsibilities for this Position:

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS), a market leader and technology innovator, is seeking talented professionals to deliver cutting edge solutions to our customers.

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Database Administrator/Systems Engineer to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to create and manage various General Dynamics Mission Systems and client technologies. Key Responsibilities
The candidate will be responsible for providing day-to-day operation and maintenance of mission-critical databases. Other duties include:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, install and patch databases.

  • Analyze and determine customers' database storage requirements and data output and reporting capabilities.

  • Execute tasks such as DB backup, recovery, testing and auditing to ensure the integrity of the system's data.

  • Monitor key DB metrics in the systems to identify trends and analyze for problems.

  • Develop policies, procedures and standards.

  • May be scheduled for after-hours support and may be required to apply production packages or perform maintenance operations during non-peak hours.

  • Exercise creative thinking and ideation to advance our business performance.

  • Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers' changing business needs.

  • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the General Dynamics Mission Systems' culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field and 8 to 10 years of demonstrated results, or equivalent experience; or Master's degree and six to eight years of related experience.

Experience and Skills:

  • Extensive LINUX and Windows experience.

  • Extensive DBA experience, especially with Apache/Cassandra, Sybase IQ, Hadoop Data Storage.

  • Ability to write and maintain high quality documentation.

  • Agile management.

This position requires a TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
