Infrastructure Services
We are planners, materials scientists, engineers, engagement consultants, asset managers and geotechnical specialists. Our team works to shape and influence some of our world's most complex and challenging infrastructure. We also provide complementary services to other AECOM teams working in the sectors of Mining, Transportation, Manufacturing, Industrial and Water.

Job Summary
We are currently offering an exciting opportunity to join our Newcastle Civil Infrastructure team for a civil / environmental engineer with experience in water resources engineering. We are looking for a highly motivated professional to support the delivery of a variety of infrastructure projects through the completion of flooding assessments, dam break analysis, drainage design, and stormwater quality management.

The Senior or Principal Engineer will lead a variety of water resources and engineering design projects, that encompass a range of services including flood modelling, dam break assessment, and stormwater drainage design. This position will also provide leadership, mentoring and coaching to the junior engineers in order to assist them to resolve technical problems and deliver strong project outcomes within agreed schedule and budget.
Key responsibilities:
  • Lead selected water resources projects or components of projects, taking responsibility for timely delivery and scheduling of tasks, coordination with other professional disciplines, maintaining a high standard of technical execution, and ensuring client expectations are met;
  • When nominated as project manager of designated projects, you will plan, program and manage the resources applied such that agreed project objectives of quality, design coordination, timeliness and profitability are achieved;
  • Prepare all project documentation and deliverables to a high standard
  • Assist in identifying potential water resources opportunities and assist and lead in the development of proposals to support these opportunities
  • Develop and maintain ongoing business relationships with key clients and customers ensuring that expectations are met; and
  • Provide technical leadership, coaching, guidance, mentoring and advice to junior engineers and technicians as appropriate.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • 8 years' experience with an engineering consultancy or similar
  • Demonstrated experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, stormwater drainage design, and dam break assessments / engineering
  • Hydrologic / hydraulic modelling skills using HEC RAS, Drains, XP-RAFTS, and TUFLOW
  • Experience in establishing and nurturing internal and external client relationships to ensure that customer deadlines and expectations are met.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
