This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and senior level Estimator or Bid Manager with a leading civils contractor. They are looking to appoint an Estimating Manager with experience across major civils with the ability to lead and manage the estimating function within their Infrastructure business.
Reporting directly into the Pre-Construction Director for Infrastructure to lead and manage the estimating and bid management function within the business, ensuring that resources and procedures are in place to allow the Infrastructure business to tender effectively and secure work

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide tendering and detailed cost estimates

* Manage and assist with the issue of Sub-contractor enquiries

* Produce material enquiries in conjunction with buying department

* Production of bills of quantities internally or procurement of externally

* Produce analytical tenders for all projects from Bills of Quantities, Specification and Drawings etc

* Prepare preliminary/on costs in conjunction with Technical and Operations Dept

* Prepare rate items for self-delivered work activities

* Present, report and advise Senior Management on projects at tender adjudication

* Liaise with Design Team and key stakeholders during tendering process as necessary

* Negotiate with Sub-contractors and suppliers as required

Required Experience:

* Able to demonstrate a stable career path with a reputable organisation within the construction/civil engineering sector

* Ideally experience within Transport, Flood, Aviation, Power, Substation or Cabling sectors across Infrastructure

* Ability to join an existing and established business and lead various areas in a manner with enthusiasm and drive

* Successful experience of Estimating within large UK Infrastructure projects

* Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, being able to relate to people at all levels in an organisation and to establish and maintain respect both professionally and personally

* To have experience of successfully negotiating, managing and completing the pre-qualification/ bid /tender process

* Disciplined experience of regular management / Board reporting procedures

* Must ideally possess an excellent understanding of the construction industry with the ability to manage, develop and enhance the business

* To have previous experience of working in a client/end user focused environment

* Ensuring maximisation of business return whilst maintaining and developing client relationships via high levels of service

* Must be able to demonstrate the ability to successfully manage client relationships but also demonstrate a lead from the front mentality with an ability to get things done

* Ideally have knowledge of potential new clients and have the ability to establish and maintain relationships at the highest level

* Should have a proven track record in developing profitable new opportunities within an existing client base

* Proven experience of networking or communicating at a senior level with clients and their advisors
