Maintenance Manager - Lancaster
£21,820.51, plus £1302.96 on-call allowance

Our client, a national FM company with a proud history and reputation within the sector is looking for an experienced maintenance manager to join a forward-thinking, ambitious team and contribute to the completion of FM on a busy college in the Lancaster area.

The current team is made up of a diverse range of highly-skilled and motivated individuals. If you'd like to join and contribute to a hardworking, specialist team then you must have and be able to demonstrate:
Grade specific competencies


* Demonstrates diplomacy, sensitivity and empathy with the issues of disability and independence
* Demonstrate a facilitative style able to broker internal and external relationships to ensure effective business solutions and resolve conflict were necessary
* Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to be able to communicate with stakeholders in a clear, meaningful and effective way.
* Ability to be flexible, respond positively to change, and work effectively under pressure and deal with conflicting priorities
* Provides evidence of effective IT skills particularly Microsoft Office
* Relevant qualification in a building related trade or extensive experience within a similar setting.
* Demonstrable understanding of the social model of disability and clarity about the input that the services directorate can make to empowerment and social change
* Good working knowledge and experience of maintenance requirements in an educational setting.
* Supporting Scope: Talks to team and others about how we can contribute to Scope's strategic direction
* Taking responsibility: Demonstrates the ability to take responsibility, shows concern for the customer and to do what they say they will do.
* Solving problems: Support team to develop new ideas and change things for the better within my unit.
* Valuing customers: Engage with customers on their terms, using different approaches to suit the situation.
* Working as part of a team: Manages differences constructively, dealing effectively with conflict and valuing diversity.


* Demonstrable understanding of the social model of disability and clarity about the input that the services directorate can make to empowerment and social change


* Be part of the maintenance "on Call" rota.
* Be an active member of Beaumont College's Health & Safety Committee

* General maintenance of building. Monitoring the maintenance of plant .i.e. central heating, lift, hoists, profiling beds, laundry and kitchen equipment
* Updating the college inventory and maintaining the Assets Register, for internal audit purposes
* Inform and liaise with the college Facilities Manager i.e. matters regarding the maintenance of the site
* Take responsibility for instant response actions to provide effective security for all site users, including securing of site for college closures.
* To direct and participate in planned and reactive activities to college and/or any of its satellite units' maintenance projects
* Writing up of Specific College Risk Assessments relating to maintenance activities, i.e. working at height, moving and handling etc. ensuring they are done with consideration of Scopes Generic Risk Assessments process, ensuring that all risk assessments are monitored, reviewed, updated.
* Planning; establishing and continually improving maintenance processes to ensure customers receive the most efficient, helpful, value-for-money services.
* Planning & Project management of minor refurbishment projects.
* Ensuring that Beaumont College is kept in a good state of repair, clean, secure and at ambient temperatures
* Managing & monitoring visiting contractors to Beaumont College ensuring their adoption of safe working practices and use of appropriate roof permits; risk assessments; work methodologies; personal protective equipment, etc.
* On occasion sleep in's may be required to ensure safety and business continuity.
