Join our team in Glasgow as a Senior Software Engineer to play a key role in the development of products across our Vehicles, Sensors and Naval business areas. Working with multi-discipline project teams you will help to deliver new innovative products for a wide range of customers worldwide and to upgrade existing products to provide enhanced capability and functionality.

Primary Purpose of Job
Senior Embedded Software Engineer

  • Software development experience across the software development lifecycle
  • Software design and test in real time embedded systems

Key tasks and accountabilities
The estimation, analysis, design, implementation, test, debugging and qualification of software systems in a real time, embedded, safety related environment.

Technical and Professional Skills

  • Real-time embedded Software Engineering (C preferred)
  • Experience of a range of RTOSs, platforms and of the hardware/software interface
  • Experience of a range of development environments

  • IBM Rational Rhapsody/C (2yrs )
  • Working knowledge of DOORS and requirements management
  • Experience of hardware/software interface and debug
  • Experience of developing communications protocols (RS232, RS485, Ethernet, TCP/IP)
  • Experience of developing to standards in a safety-related environment (DEFSTAN 00-55/00-56, IEC 61508, DO178B or similar)
  • Familiarity with agile development and CI practices
  • Testing software to high levels of integrity and coverage, using both static and dynamic testing

NA., NA. or PhD. preferred, though BSc. or NA at 2.1 or better in a software engineering/software technology based subject will be considered if the candidate has relevant experience or demonstrable flair in a relevant area.
