Purpose of Role
To deliver effective procurement solutions to Work Winning, Major Project Delivery teams and the Business as a whole. To improve performance and reduce cost and business risk significantly. To deliver a better value supply chain by embedding category strategies into the projects and focusing on the needs of internal & external customers. Role in the context of business strategy – Business strategy states that Supply Chain will be delivered through a combination of Category Management and Operational Procurement (Supply Management). This role will manage the supply of goods and services across part of a Business Unit in order that financial savings and performance improvements are made through a more strategic approach to supply chain management and a more integrated approach with our customers (internal & external) and our NA identify and include basic sustainability requirements in to tender documents and orders.
Works closely with stakeholders and category managers to understand customer requirements and implement the most appropriate supply chain and category solutions - Is responsible for supporting the supply chain solution for Work Winning in the Business Unit - Prepares and issues enquiries, carries out quotation analysis and evaluation outside of category managed areas - Selects and proposes appropriate vendors - Conducts negotiations with suppliers & subcontractors (low and moderate value/risk), places orders at least end cost - Complies with all corporate Supply Chain processes & procedures - Contributes to the implementation of project/business Supply Chain strategies - Manages procurement against a procurement programme - Resolves problems between suppliers and Carillion, expedites quotes and deliveries. Liaises with stores/site team/suppliers - Prepares and presents reports as required, achieves targets set by team - Supports the Supply Manager as necessary - Ensures that the supply chain is safe, sustainable and appropriately accredited - Installs and leads performance management and supplier development programmes, provides metrics and trend analysis. Installs corrective action plans - Achieves targets set by the Head Of Supply Management. - Prepares and presents timely & accurate reports - Inputs to planning activities with horizons of typically 6 months to 12 months - Understands the basics of sustainable procurement and what Supply Chain needs to deliver as part of the Group Sustainability Strategy.

Carillion's Buyer's operate in a fast paced and challenging environment. We are now looking for a Buyer to join our existing team in Services, within our Communities sector.
You will be dealing with tender processes for a significant amount of spend, dealing with the end to end procurement process, including the technical aspects, formulating the contract and negotiating with suppliers. You will be the Supply Chain single point of contact responsible for 10-15 contracts which may include a number of Local Government, Schools and Police properties across the Midlands and South of England. This will involve helping to resolve BAU supplier issues, regular meetings with the contract teams, site visits, supplier/subcontractor management and achieving savings initiatives through tenders and negotiations. You will also support contract mobilisations, onboard new suppliers and work alongside our senior Buyers and Category Managers. You might also get the opportunity to work on Strategic Improvement projects to support business change.
You will have stakeholder management experience, a proven track record of procurement and will be working towards CIPS. We are looking for applicants who are able to deliver quality, good value and low risk procurement. You may also be required to support and help guide other members of the team, in particular the assistant buyers.
