Responsibilities for this Position:

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) has an exciting position in our Aviation and Command group located in Fort Wayne, IN. GDMS is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer with strong software design, implementation, and test skills understanding the quality attributes of concurrency, fault-tolerance, memory management, and performance. The Senior Staff Software Engineer ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into software solutions, working with the projects systems engineering staff. This position requires interpersonal, organizational, communication, management, and administrative skills.

In this role you will:
  • Work as a part of the software development team to design, develop, implement and test software requirements
  • Work with other engineers, systems analysts, programmers, technicians, and top-level managers in the architecture and design of the software system
  • Work closely with the systems and test groups to ensure that the developed software meets the customers' expectations
  • Create scripts to build workflows or custom solutions to problems
  • Write procedures, methods, workflow documents and standard operating procedures
  • Ability to exercise "attention to detail" and follow oral and written instructions
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, help identify workflow inefficiencies and problems that can arise and helps develop workarounds

Candidate should have demonstrated strengths and experience in the following areas:

User Interface development experience required.
  • Programming Skills: Web Services knowledge and expertise (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML and related AJAX technologies) Experience with C#/.Net/Mono, jQuery, JavaScript Database skills and being able to understand data models and structure. Ability to understand Structured Query Language (SQL) and ability to make SQL calls for data queries, joins, inputs, deletions, etc
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems and general software development background
  • The candidate will communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to exercise attention to detail and follow oral and written instructions
  • Portability of skills on multi-platforms and online / offline world
  • Experience with FlySpray and SVN a plus
  • Experience with PASS, DDS, MarineLink and Postgres is a plus

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Full use and understanding of software engineering concepts, principles, and theories Knows/used • C# and Object Oriented Programming • LINUX • Generics • Extension methods • Dependency Injection • Patterns (factory, singleton, repository, etc) • Database/SQL • Entity Framework • NA MVC3 • WCF (service using basicHttpBinding) • Perfmon .NET diagnostics • Detecting and resolving memory leaks in .NET code • FxCop/StyleCop • MONO Framework • BPEL (a plus)
  • Rhapsody tools Strong software development skills and knowledge of other related disciplines Strong individual contributor able to design and develop with minimal supervision Works well in cross-site team environments

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science or a related technical field, or the equivalent experience is required.

A U.S. government Secret clearance is required within 24 months of hire. Due to the nature of work performed at our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
