General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) has an immediate opening for a Principal Systems Engineer to join our Space Ground Segment Sustainment (SGSS) team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense and communication services. SGSS employees work closely with NASA to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to create and manage various SGSS systems technologies. The Principal Systems Engineer will analyze, design, develop and test SGSS systems to ensure the integration of Enterprise Infrastructure, Software, DSP and operating procedures in a total engineering effort. Additional responsibilities include formulating operational concepts; performing mission, functional, cost-benefit and risk analysis; selecting systems architecture; and preparing specifications for SGSS operating systems to ensure designs meet applicable security specifications. This individual may also be asked to interface and document Information Assurance security on both new and fielded information systems or provide accreditation/certification evaluation and test support to ensure all technical security features are considered and functioning properly.
The Principal Systems Engineer will participate/ lead engineering activities on SGSS and be the primary technical point of contact to the customer and program management for the Systems Management subsystem. Additionally, the successful candidate will:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or a technical field required. Advanced technical degree preferred. In addition, a minimum of 15 years of related experience is required.

Department of Defense TS security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
