About the Business Line
We address the complete spectrum of energy challenges, including clean and renewable energy, energy efficiency and carbon management, hydropower and dams, thermal, geothermal and wind power generation, and transmission and distribution.
AECOM is seeking a Computational Scientist and Engineering Manager for either our Morgantown, WV or Pittsburgh, PA location.
Specific Responsibilities: Leads planning in computational future of research at NETL in the Research and Innovation Center (RIC). Must be forwarding thinking and strategic to lay the foundation for the foreseeable future in computing for RIC's future demands. This includes development of approaches, software and hardware to support RIC's research efforts which will involve modeling at all types and levels, such as CFD, DFT, ASPEN, MFIX, VASP, Barracuda, and many other computational software, visualization, dynamics, optimization, big data, data mining, GIS, information access, control, and automation. This may include selecting the architecture of the next NETL super computer and projecting future architectural design. The individual will interface with other computing centers, national laboratories, universities, and institutes in the USA and abroad in gathering information and formulating strategic approaches.
Must have knowledge of the use of computer architectures and software for:
• Data Management
• Data Mining
• Data Analysis
• Information access and Infrastructure
Ability to collaborate with clients, internal and external NETL stakeholders, other computing centers, universities and other National Laboratories. Ability to formulate strategies and establish expert teams to develop and execute NETL computational plans, strategies and initiatives.
Bachelors degree in Engineering, or related scientific field and at least 25 years of job-related experience or a Masters degree and 20 years of experience or a Ph. D. and 17 years of experience or equivalent. A Professional Engineer's license may substitute for 2 years of experience. Demonstrated capability to interface with customers and provide direction to technically qualified personnel is preferred. Excellent communication and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs. Position may require travel. Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
