Senior Contracts Specialist|

This is a role in which we are looking to develop the encumbent over the next 18months-2years and are looking at this role as a role to progress throughout the company.

We are currently seeking a Senior Contracts Officer to join the Commercial function based in Crawley. The Commercial function is to support the achievement of the Thales UK Limited Secure Information and Communications Systems (SIX) business, financial and strategic objectives, to ensure compliance with ethical and contractual undertakings and to ensure the commercial integrity of commitments being made on behalf of the company. The role holder will oversee the contractual affairs of designated areas within the business unit throughout the entire Project Life Cycle, encompassing the bidding for, negotiation of and subsequent management of contracts and customer relationships. The role holder will also monitor and control all contractual aspects to gain the best commercial advantage in Sales and Sub Contract Procurement areas.
Generation of Commercial Responses in accordance with the agreed strategy and customer requirement.
Assisting Bid Managers to in the generation of Proposal Documentation matched to Customer requirements.
Support the development and implementation of the negotiation strategy, including payment profiles and associated terms to meet the cash flow requirements of the business.
Provision of guidance to all stakeholders on compliance to terms and conditions, identifying appropriate supplychain flowdown and gap analysis. Advise on all matters relating to the terms and conditions of contract, identify contractual risks and liabilities.
Identification of potential liabilities, risks, issues and disputes, arising with customers, suppliers, partners and third parties, and produce innovative mitigation plans.
Ensuring that proposals to customers are priced, developed and approved in accordance with company procedures.
Review terms and conditions of enquiries, Requests for Proposals and Invitations to Tender; advising commercial risks and costs of bids.
Preparation, review, negotiation and response to contractual agreements including NDA, TAA, teaming Agreements etc.
Understand the business and programmes to ensure the appropriate risk limitation and negotiation strategies are applied.
Experience drafting and negotiation of contracts and agreement working as a Contracts Officer / Contracts Manager or in a Legal role dealing with contracts.
Preparation of commercial responses to contract terms and conditions
Awareness of commercial issues such as the significance of a change in customer requirements..
Good working knowledge of defence contracting (UK Government/export) and/or civil/commercial aerospace contracting is highly desirable
Team player with the ability to influence decisions.
A hard-working team player who displays both confidence in his/her abilities allied to a willingness to listen and seek guidance from his colleagues.
Some business law knowledge would be an advantage.
Experience of large scale and complex contracts of high value.
