About the Business Line
Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary
This is a chance to be a part of the AECOM team within our growing Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) practice. This group is involved with various types of projects including asbestos abatement and surveying, lead and mold assessments as well as remediation, and the wide range of contract administration and air sampling activities associated with these projects. In addition there are opportunities to be involved with sampling for a variety of exposures in the mining, construction and manufacturing environments as well as developing safety programs, management systems and industrial hygiene programs for international clients. This is a chance to help lead a growing group under a common vision throughout the City of Ottawa, across the country and throughout the world.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Develop project scopes, allocate staff and resources to projects, generate and review reports and correspondence, maintain project files
  • Schedule and supervise staff to ensure projects are progressing efficiently
  • Perform quality control checks regularly
  • Participate in and encourage adherence to the Safety and Health program
  • Attend regularly scheduled Manager's meetings, present progress reports on projects
  • Provide team leadership
  • Participate in instruction of training programs
  • Identify and resolve site challenges
  • Work with clients to produce practical recommendations and long-term relationships
  • Interpret data; prepare reports; conduct presentations; providing technical mentorship

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational hygiene, safety, biological or chemical sciences, civil engineering, or related field
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) with the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals
  • 10 years of experience as an occupational health and safety professional
  • The ability to thrive in a team environment
  • Exceptional people skills with a drive to develop new relationships
  • Exceptional knowledge of occupational hygiene and safety challenges in the local market with a focus on hazardous materials and designated substances
  • Understanding multiple regulations with a focus on occupational exposure limits, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Designated Substances Regulations including Asbestos and Industrial Establishments
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Possess willingness for some limited travel
  • Valid Ontario driver's license and reliable vehicle

Preferred Qualifications
  • Remarkable problem-solving skills
  • Good computer skills in Microsoft Office Software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to take ownership for actions
