About the Business Line
AECOM's Global Support Services (GSS) organization resides within AECOM's Government business line and is comprised of three divisions - International Development, Operations and Mission Support, and Global Programs. GSS has the international presence, personnel networks and procurement infrastructure to deliver support for any mission, anywhere. We optimize the reliability, availability and sustainability of equipment, logistics systems and facilities for clients around the world. GSS supports the U.S. Government, non-U.S. Governments and industry clients with worldwide program management, planning, design, operations and maintenance, logistics, aviation services, security, international development, environmental and civil engineering and mission and intelligence support.
Position Description: This is a temporary position to end no later than October 17, 2016. This is an outdoor position and the employees will be outside in the elements. Duties will include chaining and unchaining various military assets from inbound and outbound rail cars.
Move and process repairable and serviceable parts between maintenance activities. Handle serviceable and unserviceable materials and route them in accordance with applicable regulations.
General duties and responsibilities may consist of the following:
Manually loads or unloads fright cars, trucks, or other transporting devices.
Receive, route, and move parts, assemblies, components, and other materials into and out of industrial shops.
Examine items received to verify stock numbers, part numbers, identities, correct quantities, condition, and destination.
Identify and initiate action for correction of discrepancies such as wrong material, shortages, overages, and documentation errors.
Determine appropriate handling methods and devices needed to move items and prepares and processes any necessary paperwork.
Perform material handling on a wide variety of supply items received from Department of Defense and Contractor activities. Makes final determinations as to the acceptability of these items either for receipt or shipment.
Comprehend and apply terms of contracts, regulations, directives, policy statements and similar guides.
Determine identity by comparing physical characteristics of items with descriptions and specifications found in stock catalogs, technical orders, commercial catalogs and items description on contracts.
Store, stack and palletize materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must have a valid Driver's License.
• Due to the nature of the work, applicant must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must be able to speak, read and understand English.
• This position requires the ability to pass and maintain a national background clearance.
• This position requires a pre-employment physical examination.
• AECOM maintains a drug-free workplace and pre-employment drug screening will be completed.
• Must be available for any shift. Willing to work weekends and other hours as needed.
